WooCommerce failed orders calculator
What your store did not collect from orders that were started and never paid, worked out from your own order counts and average order value.
The estimate
Fill in the unpaid orders and the average order value.
Where to find the figures
WooCommerce gives every order a status. An order a customer began and did not pay for is left as Pending payment, or marked Failed when the payment provider refused it. Open the list of orders in the WordPress admin, filter it by each status, and count the orders in the days you are measuring.
Orders that were paid are the ones marked Processing or Completed. Your average order value is what those came to, divided by how many there were.
How it is worked out
The calculator multiplies the orders that were started and not paid by your average order value. It also says what share of all the orders customers began those were. Every figure is yours, and nothing you type is sent to us.
What the figure leaves out
- It can be too high. A customer whose card was refused often tries again and succeeds. That leaves one failed order and one paid order for the same sale.
- It can be too low. A customer who left before pressing the button to pay made no order at all, so they are not in either count.
- Some failure is normal. Cards are declined for reasons that have nothing to do with your store. A share that has risen, or that is high on one payment method only, is what points to a fault.
If the share has jumped
A sudden rise usually has one cause: an update, a changed setting at the payment provider, or a plugin conflict on the checkout page. Start with WooCommerce payment gateway errors and WooCommerce checkout not working.
